Walk a dog for charity

Friday 28th October is a public bank holiday in Cyprus (Greek National Day). There may be some military parades taking place, especially in the capital, Nicosia. We are unsure however if the usual childrens parades will take place due to the current work-to-rule in effect by Cyprus teachers, as we understand it, this means that the children cannot take part without the supervision of the teachers.

The Cyprus weather should be fine, so why not just relax and enjoy the last few days of Cyprus Summer time, before the clocks go back on Sunday 30th October for the start of Cyprus winter time.

There is a great Cyprus Charity event on Saturday 29th October in the Limassol area. This is being held by the Sirius Dog Sanctuary of Moni. The charity event, named ’Woofers and Puffers’ is intended to raise much needed funds for the many dogs that are taken in and cared for at the shelter. Also, this is a great way to give the dogs some much needed exercise in the safety of a responsible walker. Sirius Dog Sanctuary is a registered charity, run by volunteers who work tirelessly to help the lost,  abandoned and often abused dogs of Limassol, of which there are many. Please come along if you can and offer your support, walk, run or jog with a dog from the shelter, or you can even bring your own dog along.

The Woofers and Puffers Event sets off at 10am on Saturday 29th October from the shelter at Moni. Registration is from 9am, and the cost is 5 euros per person, however if you can manage to raise at least 10 euros in sponsorship, then the registration cost is free.

The walk will take about an hour, and will be signposted.  Entry and sponsorship forms available by calling Chris Parry on 99 226 829  or you can download a sponsorship form here.

After the dog walking, there will be an afternoon of fun, food and drinks at Cosmos Lodge, Monagroulli, from 1pm. If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation to this registered Cyprus Charity (number 318), you can do so from the Sirius Dog Sanctuary Website.
