Earth Hour Cyprus 2011
Please consider switching off all your lights for just one hour on Saturday 26th March 2011, from 8.30pm. Turning lights off for Earth Hour is now a major global annual event, with major landmarks and businesses around the world participating in turning off lights.
Cyprus also participates in this event, with the eight Municipalities – Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Aradippou, Yeroskipou, Dhali and Lakatamia, switching off town hall lights at 8.30pm. As well as the Municipalites, other businesses will also switch off lights, and even the Presidential Palace will turn the lights off for that one hour.
This is an ideal way to show your support against climate change, and whilst doing so, think of the devastation that has just hit Japan. Put a candle or two in your windows and turn out the lights to show that you care about our world. Every single light switched off can make a difference.
Switch off all your lights if you can, or at least as many as you can, on Saturday 26th March from 8.30 pm until 9.30 pm. and get those beautiful candles burning, Why not try some scented candles and make a romantic evening out of this event.
Everyone who supports Earth Hour can feel a sense of pride that they are helping in this small way to save our earth. See other ways that you can support World Earth Hour.
Please also remember that Cyprus clocks go forward by one hour on Sunday 27th March 2011, at 3am, which is the official start of Cyprus Summer Time.
