Cyprus Events 2012

The Annual Cyprus Radiomarathon Charity Event started earlier this month, and continues through to 26th October.  Now in its 21st year, the event this year has the slogan ‘Only Love Can’.  The aim of Radiomarathon (or radiomarathonios) is to help children with special needs through the financial strengthening of the foundations, associations and schools that support them

President of the Radiomarathon Coordination Committee Claire Koni, said in her event opening speech: “Children with special needs are like all children of the earth except that from an early age they learn to live with difficulties and co-exist with pain. They learn to appreciate things that you and I take for granted.”

These words should make us all stop for a moment and give thanks for what we have, and give a donation to this great charitable event, whatever amount you can afford, every bit helps. 
 
Radiomarathon will operate 54 kiosks all over Cyprus and 15 ‘car piggy banks’ will visit local communities and schools, while eight ‘military piggy banks’ will visit army camps and military offices, so you are sure to come across an opportunity to make a donation.

The Cyprus Postal Services have also issued special Cyprus stamps to commemorate this year’s event. The Radiomarathon stamps will be sold at various events, and reflect the Ship of Kyrenia and Santa Claus.
