Paphos Festive Events

The Pafos Municipality will be holding the following Christmas and New Year festivities:

On Friday 16th December there will be a Christmas concert by the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Markideio Theatre from 8.30 p.m.

 The concert is organised by the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Municipality of Pafos, under the auspices of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights Leda Koursoumba.

On Saturday 17th December there will be Christmas carols by the Band of the Cyprus Police Force, at Laiki Gonia (Commercial Centre) starting at 12 noon.

On Friday 23rd December there will be a Christmas Celebration of the Municipality of Pafos, at Markideio Theatre from 7p.m.

On Saturday 31st December there will be a New Years Eve Celebration held at 28th October Square (Town Hall Square) starting from 10p.m.

Larnaka Festive Events

The Larnaka Municipality will be holding the following Christmas and New Year festivities:

On Saturday 17th December Larnaca town center will hold its Christmas parade, from 5pm. This will include open top bus carrying Santa Claus and his sleigh,  escorted by the cheerleaders of Phaedra’s School of Classical Ballet and Jazz.

The route through the town will be John Kennedy (Akropolis) Square, Ermou Street, Zenonos Kitieos Street, Lord Byron Street and Gladstone Street.

Also on Saturday 17th December (not organised by the Larnaka Municipality) there will be;

Christmas Charity Event organised by the staff of Cyta Larnaka. The event will include music and dance ensembles, games for children and a magician. It will commence at 9am and run until 5pm, at Zenonos Pierides Street.

Christmas Charity Bazaar organised by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society. The program includes music, dances and games for children. The event will take place from 4.30pm until 8.30pm at Ermou Square.

Now back to events organised by the Larnaka Municipality;

From Monday 19th December to Saturday 24th December there will be musical Christmas programs being held at Ermou & Pallas Squares. Various musical performances will be held between 4pm and 7pm on each day.

 On Saturday 24th December and on Saturday 31st December there will be a Procession of the Marchers of Love, in the Larnaka town center. The event includes lanterns and flutes, Christmas music and carols, from 6pm until 7pm.

On Saturday 31st December there will be New Year’s Eve celebrations held at Europe Square, from 11pm. The event will include music, a fireworks show, free drinks and nuts, Santa Claus with presents for the children and cutting of the traditional New Year’s Cake (Vassilopitta) by the Mayor of Larnaka.

Agia Napa Festive Events

The Agia Napa Municipality will be holding the following Christmas and New Year festivities:

On Sunday 18th December from 2pm until 6pm there will be childrens Christmas celebrations at Agia Napa Central Square.

On Saturday 31st December from 9pm until dawn at Agia Napa Central Square, there will be New Year celebrations, including Christmas carols and dances, traditional Cyprus delicacies, as well as Cyprus wine that will be offered free to visitors at the Cyprus Traditional Farm House (Agrotospito).

Upon welcoming in the New Year 2012, the traditional New Year cake (Vassilopitta) will be cut and shared out, and then it will known who has found the lucky coin. The cake will be followed by the traditional soup (Avgolemoni).

The event will include music from dj’s and bands, Santa, and fireworks.
